A tech stack of an IT company is a set of technologies used to build and run applications. It consists of coding languages, frameworks, databases, front-end and back-end tools, and applications connected via APIs. And, like every developer and IT vendor, we have our favourite technologies. In this article, we talk about 3 programming languages we love most of all and show projects built with them.
1. JavaScript Programming Language
JavaScript is a lightweight scripting language which is not related to Java in any way. It is a text-based programming language. It was invented in 1995, at around the same time as Java, to add programming capabilities to web browsers. JS runs really fast and does a good job for messaging systems, websites, client-facing web apps, and mobile apps. It is one of the essential languages.
The developers use it both on the client side and server side. While HTML and CSS are the languages to create structure and give style to web pages, JS allows making them interactive and engaging a user.
Whether JS is used for the front-end or back-end depends on the host environment. A lot of JavaScript front-end code is written in the browser. But it also can be used on a server with Node.js or some other server-side host environments.

2. Node.js Platform
Node.js is a cross-platform JavaScript runtime environment built on the Chrome V8 JS engine. An application built with this engine runs in a single process: it doesn’t create a new thread for every single request. The platform is able to handle thousands of concurrent connections to a server without failures and bugs. It makes Node.js highly performant — and it is one of the factors to consider when the developer is selecting a programming language for a client project.
Node is still rapidly developing. There are a lot of things changing in terms of server-side JavaScript. A vast number of libraries appear almost every day and make writing code easier and faster. Now there are over 1 million open-source packages free to use.
Node.js is used for ultra-high-speed communication between server and client. Software development companies use it when they need a messaging system to be super fast and synchronous or don’t want any latency and lag time. It is often used for prototype apps, or minimum viable products (MVPs).

The 2020 State of JavaScript Survey reports that 91.8% of software engineers using JS prefer Node.js environment. One can find on LinkedIn more than 25,000 profiles of Ukrainian software developers using it.

3. Java Programming Language
Java is one of the most widely-used programming languages. It is an object-oriented coding language which is one of the essentials of back-end web development. Most of the time it is used for Android development or back-end server software for big businesses. Java is considered the default programming language for the majority of enterprises because it offers flexible integration and independent code.
Software developers choose Java programming language for a project because it provides high security, and the possibility to build, maintain and change huge enterprise-scale systems.
Java uses frameworks to help developers to be more efficient. The most popular Java framework is Spring. It is a platform including predefined classes and functions making the development process easier and faster. Basically, Spring is a giant library providing programming and configuration models for applications built with Java.
Among other popular frameworks, there are Hibernate, Spring Boot, MicroProfile, Micronaut, and Quarkus. They make Microservice development easier, help to interact with databases and provide developers with more useful features to boost development speed and productivity.
